according to ESPN, when St. Johnns comes to Detroit this year, they'll be in for something special. On December 5th, Detroit is holding a ceremony to name its court after Dick Vitale. The Hall of Famer was a coach and athletic director at Detroit. I like the move by Detroit. so he only coached there for five years. The guy obviously puts his heart and soul in everything he does, and you know he'll greatly appreciate it. It also gives Detroit basketball, which is not a nationally known product, some headlines now and obviously on the day of the game. Vitale has been a figure in college basketball for over thirty years. You gotta love him.
Coach K Announced Tuesday that their star freshmen, Kyrie Irving could be on the court as soon as their first game in the tournament against Hampton. Irving was spectacular before his toe injury against Butler leading the team with over 17 points a game. He was just as effective on defense shutting down probable All American Kansas State Jacob Pullen and Michigan State's Korie Lucious (now kicked off team). Duke was a number one seed without Irving playing for over half the season, and if he's back where he left off, Duke will be repeat champs. As Dick Vitale says, "We got a Diaper Dandy baby!"
