Meet the Athletes: Malik Little
Today's athlete is from No ID No Idea, the team that missed the playoffs by only one game last season. Malik was the only player last year to receive a vote for Player of The Year for his conference and not make the All Star team. The 17 year old is a playmaker on offense and says his, "step-back is unstoppable". Malik is a force when the ball is in his hands and makes defenses worry at all times. He predicts his team to not only make the playoffs but be league champions.

Meet the Athletes: Derek Woodworth
Today's athlete is the captain of Kung Fu Panda Derek Woodworth. The 22 year old is a Bridgewater State alum and double majored in management and finance. Derek is now working as a state house clerk. He was known for his defense on the court while tearing down rebounds. Kung Fu Panda had a tough time last season through the strenuous schedule and missed out on some close games. Derek is looking forward to helping his team win a game or two and be on the other side of the close games this year.

The 24 year old plays the small forward and is contributes greatly with his team defense and long range shooting ability. Cougar Bait is a close knit group that believes they will be the first ever repeat champs in the Norton Summer Hoops League. Mike is currently looking for new hobbies due to his suspension from XBOX Live. All suggestions are welcome.

Meet the Athletes: Keegan Schleicher
Today's athlete is Keegan Schleicher from No ID No Idea. The 18 year old is looking at URI, Umass, and Bridgewater State hoping to major in marine biology or business. Keegan is a guard and is mostly used as a role player. One of his top assets is his sideline commentating during the games. Keegan also brings in a solid three game and thinks his team can win it all if they all show up.

Meet the Athletes: Chris Pinheiro
Our next athlete is from Kung Fu Panda. Chris Pinheiro is a 23 year old Umass Dartmouth Grad. He majored in Mechanical engineering and is now a server, bartender, and engineer. Chris worked basically every position on the court for Kung Fu Panda depending on the line up. His ball handling and court vision helped him excel on the court. Chris may not be back this season due to work circumstances, but the league hopes it will all work out.Monday, March 14, 2011
Meet the Athletes: Tim Laconte
Today's athlete is Captain of the formerly known Superhero Squad, Tim Laconte. The 27 year old was a Second Team All Star. Tim majored in Psychology at Bridgewater State and now works as an Adolescent Outreach Worker/ Youth Advocate for the Old Colony YMCA. Tim was part of a great run with Norton high School basketball and baseball from 1998-2001. His role on the court mostly from point guard up to small forward. The Flash was chosen as his character on the Superhero Squad due to his quickness on the court and his game play is fashioned to the NBA flash Dwayne Wade. Tim describes himself "as a pull up shooter who can take it to the rack as well as bury the 3 pointer Jimmer Fredette style". The Superhero Squad is going to have much revamped look this year. First of all their name will be changed to the Super Villain Squad in their quest for league dominance. Tim's focusing on making major acquisitions to enhance his team which won the Lancer division and lost in the championship by Dave Martin's long distance dagger. Sources have leaked only four players from this team will return and their new team is focused on going undefeated and bringing home the trophy this year.

Meet the Athletes: Jordan Weygand
Our athlete today is Jordan Weygand. Jordan is arguably the league's top player but his season was cut short due to the fact he had to serve his tour in Afghanistan as part of the United States Army. With the respect of the league, Jordan was still voted First Team All Star in the Lancer Division. The 25 year old is hoping to be involved in law enforcement when he is back. Jordan can play virtually any position mainly the point through small forward. Jordan credits his teammates to making him successful this past year and predicts his team to win it all.Thursday, March 10, 2011
Meet the Athletes: Joey Wilkes
Today's athlete was the youngest all star from this past season. 18 year old Joey Wilkes was a Second Team All Star in the Lancer Division. The No ID No Idea small forward is looking at Towson University and Westfield State College hoping to be a Sport Management major like the good ole Commish. Joey is planning on becoming a sports agent after school. What separates him from the rest of the pack on the court is his athleticism and competitiveness. Coming off a playoff run for the Norton High School basketball team, Joey expects his team to win the championship this year and looks to continue his all star caliber play.Wednesday, March 9, 2011
Meet the Athletes: Nick Beatrice
Our next athlete is First Team All Star in the Lancer Division Nick Beatrice. Nick AKA Beata is a 22 year old student at Bridgewater State and wants to be a pharmacist and own his own bar. He runs the point for his team Dump Em' Out which lost in the playoffs this past season. His assets on the court are his hustle, dong the little things on each side of the ball, and he getting his entire team involved. Nick emphasizes assists on offense and rebounds on defense to ensure a solid game. Dump Em' Out was one of Nick's favorite expressions and the team just went with it. He claims if his full team shows up to every game, he is guaranteeing a championship.Tuesday, March 8, 2011
Meet the Athletes: Dave Martin
Dave AKA D-Mart was the only All Star selected from the champions Cougar Bait. He was a Second Team All Star in the Norton Division. The 24 Southern New Hampshire grad was a Business major and now works as a scheduler at National Grid. On the court he plays as a small forward and gets his recognition for playing with nonstop intensity and being a shut down defenseman. This all makes sense after D-Marts last blood work results came in saying he has Tiger Blood and Adonis DNA. The addition of colossal Tom Doucette has been the buzz for Cougar Bait and extremely excites Dave because now they have 3 members of the 2005 Norton High School hoops team that went an unbelievable 2-18! Consider yourself warned opponents. As the motto of D-Mart echos in the background, "Defense WINS Championships!"

Meet the Athletes: Chris Brooks
Monday's player for Meet the Athletes is Norton Division First Team All Star Chris Brooks AKA Brooksy. The 21 year old was the main focus on offense for the Dirty Burg last summer. The Bridgewater State University student is a business management major with a minor in accounting and finance. On the court Brooksy is a combo guard and plays some forward when needed. What makes him special on the court is his slashing ability while seeing the whole court, getting boards as a small man, and everyone knows about his three point sessions every game. His status with the Dirty Burg next year is still uncertain so for captains looking to bring their team over the top or expansion teams looking for elite talent, make yourself serviceable or this player's gonna take his talents to South Beach. Wherever Brooksy ends up he'll be making an immediate and positive impact.

Meet the Athletes: Pat Hannon
Today's athlete is a first team all star for the Lancer Division. First of all I'd like to say it is an honor to introduce one of my longest friends, one of my sandbox buddies, Pat Hannon. Pat Hannon aka Hannon the Mannon is a 21 year old student at Curry College. He majors in management and plans on working for the prestigious Hannon Electric Company after he graduates. Pat is the brute force playing center and power forward for No ID No Idea. His strength is just moving everyone and anyone around the blocks. The kid has the strength to outmuscle anyone for boards and has a shot as soft as a baby's bottom. He's basically Barkley with a better golf swing. He thinks if his team is committed this year, that the sky's the limit. Pat's favorite part of the league is playing alongside his brother Eddie. They've played with each other ever since they picked up basketballs and have unbelievable chemistry. When watching them play it's as if they know what each other is thinking.

Meet the Athletes: Doug Schlehuber
Our next athlete is Doug Schlehuber from the Rochester Rawdoggers. First of all I'd like to apologize for the lateness of our Meet the Athlete section. Yesterday on Day 3, we already broke our promise of having an athlete every day. This is because Doug, who is my teammate by the way, was holding out for the Meet the Athlete section for some reason. Like the kid can't cut the commissioner a break and answer a few questions for his teammate in a timely fashion. Well anyways Doug aka Dougie Fresh is a 19 year old Political Science major at UMass Amherst. He's not positive on his future plans but many assume he'll be at the right hand of Obama. Dougie runs the point and excels because of his freakish athleticism. He thinks the Rawdoggers will win the title and don't really have a chance of losing a single game this year. Dougie was extremely modest during the whole interview session saying he only thinks he'll average about 14 threes a game. Dougie once called the Irish Assassin by numerous sources was the Norton Division Player of the Year in season one.

Meet the athletes: Chad Earls
Our next player on meet the athlete is Lancer Division Player of the Year Chad Earls. Chad attended the Massachusetts Corrections Academy and is now a corrections officer. The 34 year old is known as the silky smooth Power Forward for the Lancer Division Champions the Superhero Hero. His teammates nicknamed him Thor due to the fact that his wife enjoys when he wears the helmet and nothing else. On the court Chad excels in his mid range and inside game but can pop the trey bomb like Charlie Sheen can win. His prediction on his team next year is 8-2 and the League championship which is what he thinks they should have been last year. The biggest hope is that captain Tim Laconte will finally get a haircut because anyone who has seen him recently knows how much of a jackass he looks like right now. He says Nick, Maloney, Dave, and anyone else who have seen Tim recently know exactly what he means. Chad looks to get right back on pace for Player of the Year honors for this season.
